SaaS & B2B tech

SaaS SEO that gets you on the shortlist.

Software buyers do their research alone: problem searches, “best X” lists, AI answers, comparisons, pricing and docs. We make your site crawlable, quotable and fair at every step, and report on demos and pipeline, not just traffic.

How your clients search

The searches behind a typical decision, stage by stage. The queries are examples, not search volumes.

  1. 01

    The problem

Buyers start with a pain, not your category name. Content that answers these questions well can be where a buyer first meets your brand.

    • how to track billable hours across client projects
    • why do agency projects go over budget
    • client approval workflow for design agencies
  2. 02

    The shortlist

Next come “best X” lists, review sites and, increasingly, AI answers. To make the shortlist you need to be cited, not just ranked.

    • best project management software for agencies
    • project management tool with time tracking
    • agency resource planning software
  3. 03

    Comparisons

Shortlisted products get compared head to head, and buyers look for alternatives. Fair, specific comparison pages win here; one-sided ones lose trust.

    • planfield vs taskloom
    • taskloom alternatives
    • planfield reviews
  4. 04

    Proof before the demo

Before booking a call, buyers check integrations, pricing and documentation. Often a developer or an operations lead does the checking, not the person who signs.

    • planfield slack integration
    • planfield pricing per user
    • planfield api docs

What makes SEO different here

01

JavaScript that hides the pitch

In audits we often see marketing sites where copy, internal links or pricing only appear after client-side JavaScript runs. Google renders pages, but rendering can lag behind crawling, and in our log reviews many AI crawlers don’t run JavaScript at all. App subdomains with login and account pages in the index add noise on top.

02

Docs left off the map

Documentation answers the most specific questions buyers and AI assistants ask, yet it often sits on a separate platform with no links from the main site, duplicate versions and pages behind a login. We treat docs as part of the site: crawlable, linked and canonicalised across versions.

03

Comparison pages that hold up

“X vs Y” and “alternatives” pages are among the most valuable pages a SaaS site has, and the easiest to get wrong. Buyers spot one-sided pages, and comparative claims are regulated in the UK, the US and Türkiye alike. We keep them specific, dated and backed by evidence.

04

Integration pages at scale

A page for every integration sounds efficient until hundreds of near-identical pages appear. Google’s spam policies cover scaled content abuse. We publish integration pages that explain setup, use cases and limits, and merge or noindex the rest.

05

Long sales cycles, short attribution

A buyer may read your comparison page months before a sales call, and last-click reports give organic none of the credit. Connecting GA4 key events to your CRM, with the landing page and source carried through, is how you see organic’s share of pipeline.

06

Shortlists written by AI

For “best X software” searches, AI Overviews, AI Mode and chat assistants increasingly build the shortlist. How they choose sources isn’t public. What we observe is that clear, specific, current pages and mentions on trusted third-party sites get cited more often.

Rules that shape your website

A planning summary, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the current guidance from your regulator before you publish.

UKUnited Kingdom

  • The CAP Code covers claims on your own website, and the ASA treats comparison claims there as likely to be in scope. The Code counts anyone likely to see an ad as a consumer, at work or not, so B2B pages are covered.
  • A comparison with an identifiable competitor must be like for like, objective and based on material, relevant, verifiable and representative features (price included), must not denigrate (CAP Code 3.32–3.43), and needs evidence in hand before you publish (3.7). The Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008 set the same conditions in law.
  • Since 6 April 2025 the DMCC Act 2024 has banned fake consumer reviews and reviews that hide an incentive. The CAP Code now has matching rules, including against publishing positive reviews while leaving out negative ones (3.44–3.46).
  • Under PECR you can email limited companies and LLPs without prior consent, but you must identify yourself and give a way to opt out. Sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals, and a named work email address is personal data under UK GDPR.

USUnited States

  • The FTC encourages comparative advertising that names competitors, provided it is truthful and not deceptive, and holds comparative claims to the same substantiation standard as any other claim (Statement of Policy Regarding Comparative Advertising).
  • The FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule (16 CFR Part 465), in force since 21 October 2024, bans fake reviews, incentives conditioned on a positive or negative review and undisclosed insider reviews. It also bans presenting a review site you control as independent.
  • Under the FTC’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255, revised in 2023), a material connection such as payment, free products, an affiliate commission or employment must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously.
  • CAN-SPAM makes no exception for business-to-business email. Marketing emails need accurate header information, a valid physical postal address and a clear way to opt out, and opt-outs must be honoured within 10 business days.

TRTürkiye

  • Comparative advertising aimed at consumers may not use a competitor’s product name, brand, logo or trade name, and comparative claims must be backed by documents from university departments or accredited or independent testing bodies (Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices, Arts. 8 and 9).
  • Even when the audience is other businesses, the Turkish Commercial Code (Art. 55) treats comparisons that are untrue, misleading, needlessly disparaging or that needlessly trade on a competitor’s reputation as unfair competition.
  • KVKK (Law No. 6698) requires you to inform people when you collect their personal data, demo and contact forms included (Art. 10). Sending lead data to CRM or marketing tools abroad needs a basis under Art. 9; a standard contract, for example, must be notified to the Authority within five business days of signing.
  • Commercial electronic messages need prior consent, but tradespeople and businesses (esnaf and tacir) can be sent them without it (Law No. 6563, Art. 6). Any recipient can opt out at any time, and you must stop within three business days (Art. 8).

How we approach it

  1. 1

    Audit what crawlers actually see

We render your marketing site, app subdomain and docs the way Googlebot and AI crawlers do, then fix whatever hides content, links or pricing from them.

    Technical SEO
  2. 2

Map content to the buying journey

One page per intent: problem guides, category pages, fair comparisons, alternatives, integrations and pricing, each with a brief that lists the queries, claims and sources it needs.

    Content Strategy & On-page SEO
  3. 3

    Make pages easy to quote

Clear answers near the top, specific facts with dates and sources, structured data that matches the page, and a baseline of where AI answers cite you today.

    AI Search Optimisation (GEO)
  4. 4

Earn the mentions shortlists rely on

Integration directories, partner pages, industry media and stories built on your own product data. No paid link schemes.

    Digital PR & Link Building
  5. 5

    Connect organic search to pipeline

GA4 key events and CRM fields set up so demo requests, opportunities and revenue can be traced back to the organic page where the journey started.

What we measure

  • Demo and trial requests from organic search
  • Pipeline and revenue from organic, tracked in your CRM
  • Non-brand visibility for category and comparison queries
  • Citations in AI answers for an agreed set of prompts
  • Docs and integration pages indexed and earning clicks
  • Rendering and Core Web Vitals on key templates

Reports lead with enquiries and revenue, then explain the rankings and traffic behind them.

In practice

Re-platforming without losing a ranking

For software companies leaving a slow CMS: a migration plan that protects pipeline, then a content and AI-search programme that grows it.

Client work stays confidential. On a call, we share relevant examples and, with permission, introduce you to references.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can our comparison pages name competitors?

In the UK and US, yes, if the comparison is fair, accurate and backed by evidence you hold before publishing. In Türkiye, comparative advertising aimed at consumers may not use a competitor’s name or brand at all. We plan comparison content market by market and flag claims for your legal team to check.

Our site runs on React or Next.js. Is that a problem for SEO?

Not in itself. Problems start when content, links or metadata only appear after client-side JavaScript runs. Google renders pages, but later than it crawls them, and in our log reviews many AI crawlers don’t run JavaScript at all. Server-side rendering or static generation for marketing pages usually solves it.

Should our docs live on a subdomain or in a subfolder?

Both can rank. In our audits, what matters more is that docs are linked from the main site, return clean status codes, handle versions with canonicals and sit behind a login only when they have to.

How do you measure SEO when deals take months to close?

We track demo and trial requests as GA4 key events, pass the landing page and source into your CRM, and report pipeline and closed revenue by organic entry page. Search Console fills in the visibility side, including how often you appear in AI features.

Can you guarantee we’ll appear in AI answers?

No. How AI assistants choose sources isn’t public. We work on what is documented and what we observe: crawlable pages, clear answers, specific facts and mentions on sites those assistants already cite. Then we track citations for an agreed set of prompts.
